EyePod - 78 - Intervju med Sten Kjellström VD för S:t Eriks ögonsjukhus

I detta avsnitt samtalar vi med Sten Kjellström, disputerad överläkare inom ögonsjukdomar och idag VD för S:t Eriks ögonsjukhus i Stockholm. Det är nu i september 2022 cirka 2 år sedan det nya ögonsjukhuset öppnade. Sten tillträdde tjänsten som verkställande direktör för sjukhuset i april 2022 och vi var nyfikna på vilka intrycken är från den första tiden. Ögonsjukdomar, som t.ex. åldersförändringar i gula fläcken är en folksjukdom och vi belyser de krav som ställs på ögonsjukvården framöver, inte minst med tanke på en ökande och allt äldre befolkning. Det är viktigt att fokusera mera på en behovsanpassad ögonsjukvård och få till ett närmare samarbete med patienterna. Artificiell intelligens och distansmonitorering, samt olika digitaliserade vårdlösningar är vägen framåt. Det är också viktigt att säkerställa en kontinuerlig utbildning av läkare inom primärvård.
